Regret! Beware of Fischer!

Fischer Homes - Regret! Beware of Fischer!
Fischer Homes - Regret! Beware of Fischer! - Image 2
We decided to build with Fischer on December 31st. We signed a contract On this date. By February, I regretted our decision. A few days after signing, I contacted our sales guy to advise we had forgotten to add a kitchen pot filler to our special requests. We had a few other special requests and had to pay a non refundable fee for Fischer’s consideration. I was told even though they had not started the review, it was too late. Absolutely no changes! After we met to pick our selections, we receive a call that oops! Fischer had made an error and the whole house layout had to be reversed. Fischer blamed it on land developer, not their fault. I actually picked the lot with the understanding that my driveway would be on right side of the home, but with the change, it was on left. I discovered that Fischer only meant that no changes applied to the buyer, they could change whatever and it was fine. As the house was being built, I noticed that the downstairs bathroom had a tub, not a walk in shower. One of our special requests was a walk in shower with a glass door, we were charged more for walk in shower because (we were told) the size was different. I contacted our superintendent by text to advise it was wrong. I was first told by the superintendant I shouldn’t bother him after 5 PM unless emergency. I explained that we were told the size for tub vs walk in was different and thought he would need to know in case some framing needed adjustment. I was told, the walk in shower was not on his specs, I sent him copy of our approved special request and he responded that he had to ask design center, that not on his specs. I received confirmation that it was not his fault, that they messed up his sheets. When they changed our specs , reversing the house, they didn’t update everything. Later, I noticed that the superintendent didn’t have a shower door installed. Again, superintendent said not on his specs and he would have to check with design center. A door was added. Once we moved in, we had a contractor out to install the garage door opener. We discovered the wires for the door were behind the drywall. My husband had to cut a whole in the drywall to get to the wires. When I asked for a repair from superintendent, I was told drywall repair at one year. We moved in our home in July, we didn’t spend time in our backyard, in October I noticed that we had a window in our sunroom that had been drywalled over. The window could be seen on outside of home but only drywall inside. I told my husband Fischer only fixed drywall after one year so I didn’t report immediately. When I did, I was told by superintendent that he would fix at one year. Frustrating that we paid for a window and not done correctly. Our back screen door was not shutting, we couldn’t use, again told had to wait until one year warranty. Also, Fischer brags about how good their inspector is and this was missed. I wonder if other things missed too. As our one year approached, I emailed Fischer to ask when I should submit repairs. I was told to go ahead and submit. I receive a call from a superintendent from another community. He sets a time to come to our home to review repairs and says a date when contractors will be out. I receive a call one week prior to our meeting stating the superintendent couldn’t make it that day. I told him that was ok since I had on my calendar for following week. I don’t hear from him again to confirm contractors coming or times, however, they showed up on date he promised. This superintendent was much more professional than the community superintendent I had dealt with during building process. Unfortunately, I still had problems. The superintendent said he was leaving but would be back to verify repairs done. The contractors missed a crack in drywall and didn’t fix a door. The superintendent didn’t come back, instead I got a text the next day saying he forgot. I wasn’t satisfied with how they repaired a crack in our front door steps, I don’t think fixed just caulked. I asked the superintendent about this when at my house and he said if have problem, let him know. When he text me, I asked if he could note my concerns on the sign off sheet he wanted me to sign. He ignored my request, I did add my concerns on sign off sheet but know won’t matter. This is just some of the things I had problems with while building with fisher.

Help!!! Somebody???

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased the model home in the Shire at Arcadia in Alexandria, KY. I closed on October 10, 2018.

I’m a single mom who who needed a fresh start after going thru a divorce, lost her house, job and son who was killed in a car accident. I thought that purchasing a new condo where I wouldn’t have to deal with any issues wound be the perfect time to start my new life. WRONG!!! I put down 100,000 cash towards my condo.

I drained my savings account. After moving in, there has been nothing but problems. My kitchen sink had an existing leak. You could see the water damage and warped board if you looked closely.

I called Quinn Electric to come out and check everything. I told them that every time I went to plug in my vacuum by laundry room it would trip. My refrigerator would go out? I was constantly going to breaker box.

They came out and informed me arc fault caused outlets to trip. He opened all receptacles. This was a nuisance issue. This caused tripping.

He put in all new breakers. He said now they have latest manufacturing code! Eaton Manufacturing. There are open gaps on the left and right side of the dishwasher.

I just noticed last week that cotton was used to fill in these gaps! Handle bar in master shower broke off. Temperature dial was not set correctly on faucet in master shower. Scalding water in guest bathroom and not so hot in master bathroom.

After adjusting dial on water heater which didn’t solve the problem, I had to call the plumber out for the second time. The first time was for the leak under kitchen sink. My carpet is literally falling apart! My vinyl plank floor in my kitchen is lifting.

The shelving in my pantry collapsed the day I moved in! Every single one of my kitchen cabinets are splitting and chipping. Sims Lohman are where these cheap cabinets came from. I called them.

They do not install. Fischer installs them. Not the professionals. Poor job in doing so.

Cut corners. My pantry doors have already been replaced once. When unpacking and putting my wine glasses away in kitchen cabinet to right of sink, I noticed an open gap in the back!!!!! My wine glasses fell out!

Not enclosed!!!!! Cracks are appearing everywhere on the walls in every room! There is a significant temperature drop that was noted by the inspector. It was 43 degrees F when you walk in the front door all the way up the stairs by laundry room then the temperature was 67 degrees F.

Inconsistent air flow through ducting can cause ducting/vents can lead to temperature variance throughout living space. Last week when it was -5 below, I woke up to find ice INSIDE surrounding all corners of my windows in family room! I also have ice inside the front door and window by stairs. Frozen!

I have been sick since I have moved in. When it rains, it sounds like a freight train coming from the wall behind my couch. The girl below me informed me she can hear me talking and can hear when I put the toilet seat down!!!!! My deck has huge holes where the nails are!

Splitting wood, nails everywhere. Falling apart. Untreated. I smelled a stale musty water smell coming from the guest bathroom.

I opened the closet door where the hot water heater/furnace are. It was coming from there. The hole where the pipe goes down behind water heater was bone dry! Where does pipe go?

How do I keep water in it? Where is the trap? There is a huge cut out on wall behind heater? The floor board (I think that’s what it’s called) in kitchen under sink, island, pantry etc has popped off!

Literally popped off! There was mold/water damage on the board under sink. The light located above thermostat will affect temperature around unit and may cause furnace to not activate. Light in poor location.

My electric bills have been 140.00! This is not a warranty issue. This is a “not suitable and safe place to live in” issue. Why would I want the contractors who built my place to come out and repair what they caused in the first place?

This is the absolute worst experience ever. I do not feel safe living here. I’ve been here three months and this!!! I want out.

I’m not the only one having issues. There are many neighbors I have spoken with who are experiencing serious issues as well. We were told the trees would remain and not be removed when they were going to be starting construction behind us. We paid for this lot and view and more importantly the privacy knowing more condos would be built behind us.

They lied! We are devastated.

Myself and my neighbors are extremely upset with what they have done. Cleared everything!

Withholding my down payment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Horrible experience working with Fischer Homes in Warren County. I had put a $3000 down payment on a new home in South Lebanon. When the sale of my home fell through,I no longer had a down payment and would have had two mortgages, my loan was denied by my loan officer. This occurred with 15 days of signing the contract, well within the 30 days allowed. Fischer Homes wanted me to sign a cancellation document that would have not allowed me to get my refund back. When I told them I was talking with my lawyer, lo and behold, there was miscommunication on their end. Ha!! They were trying to bully me into keeping my $3000. Horrible experience! Horrible company! Fischer Homes will not be a part of my future new home shopping.

DISAPPOINTING!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We have contacted Fisher Warranty Dept., Adam & Nick-nothing has been done. I also had a in depth 90 day review phone call where I expressed my dissatisfaction and again- nothing has been done. Homes are going up on my street like hot cakes and yet my home was forgotten about the second we signed the papers to purchase it and you received our money.

I invite you to walk our property. First thing you will notice is the tremendous amount of rocks and stones ( not grass) that is my yard. Now I know what you're going say- you didn't water or take proper card- well let me stop you there-not only did the monsoon that was june water it but we watered it daily! Plants and grass. Here's the problem we were watering and taking care of a lawn that was never properly laid down. We have had multiple lawn companies come out and tell us that our yard is un growable. They would have to come out- dig up my entire yard and then redo all the work that was supposed to have originally happened. I was here the day the yard was done- and like I spoke on the phone- all they did was lay down straw and seed. They did not level my front yard like promised( we moved in in December- was told our ground was too hard so that was understood) and there was absolutely no removal of any rocks! Drain pipes weren't buried. I have reached out to the landscaping company who said they would remove our dead plants now then replant in the fall ...they are still out there- and they are still dead- and we are receiving HOA notices to pay a find if we don't remove- and we cant remove because if we do Rob Richter said they won't replace them. Nick told me at the first walk through that yard and plants are under warrenty- and since we are still within our year- I will keep fighting this issue.

Unfortunately I do NOT recommend Fisher Homes to anyone who asks. The decision to build with you was because of so many of our family and friends being your clients but after they have heard our story and seen your work on our lot- they are appalled and disappointed and word is getting around. We were treated graciously before singing the contract however once it was done- we didn't hear from anyone for 3 months- my house was supposed to be completed 3-6 from purchase date. We signed on May 31 and didn't even receive an initial building meeting until the end of August- according to estimation...shouldn't our house have already been started? NOPE- we just had a giant hole in the ground for 3 months!! We were told we wouldn't have our house until Late January/ early February at the earliest( not what we signed up for). We left that meeting frazzled and upset. Within the next month tho our house was up and ready! We initially got a November move in but we had moving set up for December since that was what we were told at the 2nd meeting. We had issues closing because Fisher insisted we'd close in November. Moral of all of this- lack of communication/ rush job of our home. My house was forgotten. Fisher just wanted to " get it done and be done." We've had so many issues since day one- Unproper ventilation of our restrooms( our whole house would smell like *** took a month to finally get you all to come out.) Then when that happened found out we were missing roofing. Fixed the roof to only be told it wasn't fixed and that you'd all be back out this summer to make sure it bonded( never came back out). Our A/C system died on us twice within the first weeks of hot weather. It's a new system- there is no excuse for Two times!

I have built w.Ryan Homes, I have owned a Schmidt Builders home, and you guys were supposed to be the best. You are far from that. Disappointed, sad, and looking into possibly resaleing this home because it has been a bad experience for a long time now. We are tired of hating it and tired of the continuous disappointment. This was supposed to be our happy place.

I will be in touch until this is resolved.

Bad choice

Original review Sep 12, 2019
Buying a home with Fischer Homes is the worst choice you can make. We decided to buy a home in Shelbyville, KY with Fischer Homes, and we are completely disappointed and frustrated !!! When the customer shows up at the sales place, they serve you very well, promising excellent quality and commitment to work and delivery ..... of course, they want to sell !!! But once you decide to buy, everything changes! They don't give you attention anymore, they don't serve you well, they take weeks to answer an email or sometimes they don't even respond; In our case, the house was to be delivered in June, and so far we have not received the house; The disorganization of this construction company is very visible !! First, they claimed that the delay was due to the weather (doesn't the company know how to put this factor in time to finish construction?); Later, we were told that the delay was due to lack of material !!! They said that as they support local material suppliers, they were late in material delivery !!!! Look, I understand that they support local construction stores, but Fischer Homes is not a company that has just started building houses, it already has plenty of time in the market, so it has an obligation to have a plan B if not find material in a particular store; Is there no other place where you can buy material ???? The customer has nothing to do with it !! When we buy a house, we are doing our part and the company has an obligation to do it !!! Well, so it was building, in the delay. A few days ago we were told that they would deliver on the 7th of September, changed the date without informing us anything, if my husband had not called to confirm, we would be on the street, because the apt we are renting was already to be rented by Another family. So the delivery date was said to be 9th, however ...... it doesn't have the gas meter !!!! And there are so many horrible quality details, badly painted walls, window details, poorly made doors !!! And since we were promised delivery in June, we are only losing a lot of money as we have had to renew the apt rental agreement that we are paying month by month without a contract like we had for six months which gets cheaper value. The Fischer Homes only in god spending, frustrations, even emotional problems, because this is affecting us a lot !!!! So if you are thinking of buying a home, definitely do not hire this company !!!!!

You just helped to make up my mind. I must decide tonight between using Fischer or another local builder.

After reading your review I instantly decided AGAINST Fischer. Plus I see they are not accredited by the BBB.

Current situation. Homeowners are living elsewhere due to condemned building bc of land slide. Fischer new of drainage issue in 2017. We purchased in 2018. No disclaimer before purchase on previous drainage and now it has caused a huge land slide. Residents are filing a class action suit. Do not buy a Fischer Home.

Bought a real pretty condo in Paragon Mill in Burlington, KY. All the drain pipes are connected and you can hear toilets flushing no matter where you are in your condo. What takes the cake is that you can actually hear the guy that lives above you taking a leak! I’ve lived in lots of apartments and this has never happened in any of them. Other things have been fixed but this is absolutely ridiculous. Definitely not the quality I was expecting for the price.

BEWARE - DO NOT BUILD A FISCHER HOME

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We built a patio home in Prestwick subdivision and moved in almost four months ago. We’ve had nothing but problems from start, in the middle, at the end and ongoing.

They put the wrong backsplash in and the wrong stone around the fireplace. They refuse to put in what we picked out just because they can. They conveniently told us a sink in the laundry room was an “upgrade” but didn’t tell us this during the build. So they decided that since the plumbing was finished they didn’t want to put one in.

The siding on the right side of the house kept flapping and all they did was keep nailing it down. It wasn’t until the siding started flying off the house that they decided to replace it. They told us the siding was defective. So we asked about the left side and they said that was done by a different contractor.

BS no it wasn’t. So they refused to replace it. We even filed a complaint with the BBB who also doesn’t care so don’t bother using them.

Now that it’s hot out our air conditioner wasn’t cooling our house down. We had the company who installed it come out and he refired it once.

When it got into the 90’s our house would stay at a stifling 88 degrees. We called the air conditioning people again and he found nothing wrong with the air conditioner, so he decided to look in the attic. Fischer FORGOT to put insulation in the attic? Really?

This patio home cost us $350,000 and they forget insulation?? You can try to go to the CEO, or anyone else at Fischer and they all ignore you. They don’t care as long as they have your money. Please adhere to my warning.

We’ve built houses before and we have never had these kinds of problems in any of them. Fischer Homes are a bunch of crooks living off of homeowners who don’t have the will or time to fight back.

We built this year with Fischer and got screwed. We now have an attorney, our driveway looks 10 years old and is scaling, and crumbling. Concrete only poured 2.5 inches in certain areas, we have pictures, the drywall, and finishing is a discrace. The 90 day work they did was crap and is worse than before they tried to fix it. Thanks for taking my hard earned money and screwing me. I have over $15,000 in estimates from contractors just to come in and fix non settlement issues, and that doesnt include what we have done and paid for out of pocket already. If you wanna THROW your MONEY AWAY buy a Fischer.

Dishonest, Horrible Quality and Disinterested in Customer Satisfaction

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We mistakenly purchased a Fischer Home 18 months ago, and we are still waiting on them to fix dozens of defects in designs that barely meet minimum standards, and in some cases Do NOT meet minimum standards; extremely poor workmanship, and multiple Kentucky State Code Violations; including zero drainage of water away from our home, missing waterproofing on our foundation, a roof that has 7 years of damage from installation errors and poor workmanship which Fischer Homes flatly refuses to fix or resolve, using a slew of phony excuses.

This has caused us to begin a movement to start going door to door, and especially meeting with NEW Fischer homeowners to teach them what to look for and how to begin holding Fischer Homes accountable, and to be certain to meet with the AAA (American Arbitration Association) as soon as possible to hold their place so time does not run out before your one year warranty runs out. You MUST HOLD YOUR PLACE WITH THE AAA AT LEAST SIX WEEKS BEFORE YOUR ONE YEAR WARRANTY RUNS OUT! It is only $175, and this is your only option when Fischer refuses to repair your home, and trust me, you will have a long one year punch list, but if you have not held your reservation with the AAA, at least 6 weeks in advance, this is exactly what Fischer Homes is hoping for. They want to build the cheapest and most unreliable homes in Kentucky, Ohio, and Georgia, and they are succeeding. They are NOT depending on repeat customers, and will treat you with incredible arrogance. We have built 9 homes in our life in different States, and Fischer Homes builds the cheapest and lowest quality homes we have ever seen in 30 years!

It is time to start a ground swell of pissed off Fischer homeowners and to start fighting back! We are creating a website with all the forms you will need. NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED AN ATTORNEY!!!!! THIS IS EASY, AND YOU CAN DO IT ALL YOURSELVES!!! Furthermore, please be aware that when Fischer homes fails to comply with any Kentucky Residential Code, this nullifies your "Purchase Agreement" that Fischer has tried to use to keep anyone else from suing them in a jury trial. They can be sued in civil and in some cases criminal court for failing to meet Kentucky State Residential Codes. Arm yourselves with information and read every word in your Purchase Contract. It is all created to protect Fischer Homes ONLY and put you; the consumer at the highest risk.

If you are interested in joining this movement, please call 513-335-**** and leave your Name, Phone Number, and Street Address. We need this information, so we can differentiate you from the Builders who aim to shut us down.

Thank you!

Totally Disappointed With Fischer Home less than a year old!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Me and my family moved to Indianapolis, In from VA with the military. My search for a home led me to Fischer Homes. The salesman was nice, informed and highlighted the pros of building and owning a Fisher home. Our expectations and experiences thereafter declined from a dream to a nightmare. We have had nothing but bad experiences and have witnessed our neighbors go through the same. Dead trees and shrubs, multi-shaded sod, bad graded and flooding backyard, cracked concrete walls caused flooding in my basement, which caused my furniture to mildew and the stench still remains, fixtures off centered, railings half installed, carpet coming off the floors, doors interior and exterior were installed uneven and off square. The exterior paint on the house was done slouchy and messy, driveway chipping in places we never parked but they said it was from salt. This has got to be a bad dream or a joke. The time, effort and money spent could have been spent with another builder, but they act as if they are doing us a favor by even taking our call. This is the fourth home I have owned and the last home I lived in for 12yrs and never had issues like this, not even with pre-owned rental properties I own.
